If you belong to the Beautiful Science network you can now also apply for funding for small science communication projects.
- The proposals can come from any combination of countries from the Beautiful Science network, and from any number of individuals, but they would have to be developed and/or implemented representing at least 2 SEE countries AND the UK. Project activities should be delivered in at least two countries.
- The projects are not limited in format (e.g. live shows; online events; etc) or topic (given they are about communicating science) as long as they are relevant to the target audience for which they are intended. Please be sure to describe why you chose a particular format for the audience you will be aiming at.
- The proposals will be submitted in English, by email - please use for your submission the attached template.
- The funding provided by the British Council will be up to 1,500 GBP in cash per project, but at least 50% co-funding should be provided by external sources. This may be in-kind (for example, free venue, equipment, promotion) or in cash.
- Depending on the amounts requested, we hope to be able to fund between 14-20 projects. Also depending on the topic and the format of the proposed idea we may propose to the teams to merge two or more project proposals.
- The projects should be realized between May and December 2009. Please make sure you coordinate the timing with your local British Council office(s)
- The branding of the projects will acknowledge the Beautiful Science project and the British Council. Guidelines for this will be developed at a later stage and will be sensitive to partnerships, as well as the identity of the Beautiful Science network itself.
- The copyrights of the product of the project will be with the authors and the British Council.
- The selection panel will be made by the British Council Beautiful Science team and 1 Beautiful Science network member per country.
- The criteria for selection will be quite reasonable and transparent - applicability (how feasible it is); collaboration (we want to encourage the network’s interaction); effectiveness (adequate to audiences and topics etc)
- The scheme will be open from 1 March and the . Decisions will be announced in mid-April.
- If there are funds left over from the first application round, a second round will be organized at a later stage (eg Sept 09)
