Rules and Regulations

1.Maximum length of any musical work (including but not limited to song or instrumental) in any form will be not longer than four minutes.

2.You must be 16 years or older to participate in the competition.

3.You must live or work in the city of Sofia or Sofia District.

4.OPENCities Soundtrack competition ends at 00:00 Bulgarian time on 17 October 2010.

5.All entries must be mp3 format and sent via the online entry form.

6.Names of composers must be clearly stated.

7.Name, address, email and telephone number of one contact person must also be provided.

8.Each musical work entered for the competition must be entirely original work, composed personally by the competition entrant and never been broadcast or performed in public before.

9.Audio sounds and samples can feature in songs and instrumentals, but any recordings used must be original and recorded specifically for this competition.

10.Any musical works using unofficial samples from other groups and recordings will automatically be eliminated from the competition.

11.Each competition entrant agrees not to submit any musical work or material which is or is deemed to be (i) libelous, defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening, or an invasion of privacy, (ii) illegal in any way or which advocate illegal activity and/or (iii) an advertisement or solicitation of funds, goods, or services. Any such musical work or material will be disqualified immediately from the competition.

12.

a.Each competition entrant grants to the British Council the non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license in perpetuity to copy, distribute, reproduce and use all or part of the musical works in connection with the OPENCities Photo Exhibition and Project in any form, including but not limited to media, software or technology of any kind, now existing or developed in the future, throughout the world by the British Council.

b.Each competition entrant warrants that he/she is entitled to grant to the British Council the license referred to in paragraph 11 a) above and that the exercise of such license will not (a) infringe the copyright or any other personal or property rights of any person or (b) entitle any person to claim any payment from the British Council or from any of the British Council’s licensees. Each competition entrant agrees to indemnify the British Council against all and any costs, claims, expenses and liabilities (including, without limitation, legal fees and any sums paid on the advice of Counsel) resulting from breach of any of the above warranties.

c.The British Council shall not be obliged to use the musical works.
