Registration options
For registering you need a filled in Application Form, two recent identical passport-size photos with your name and signature on the reverse side, а valid identity card or passport and a paid test fee.
Candidates must not wear glasses in the photographs they submit for IELTS registration.

You can register online. You can choose a date and fill in all of the information online instead of an application form. You will still need to print out the registration summary page and send it to us by post, together with a copy of your ID card/passport, two photographs and proof of payment by bank transfer. You can also scan and email the above documents to us, but you must bring the two photographs with you at the day of the test.

You can still register by post and send us (preferably by registered mail or courier) the completed application form, signed photos, a clear copy of your ID card/ passport and a proof of payment by bank transfer. Contact us to make sure we have received and approved your application.

You can also visit our Custоmer Services Centre and complete the Application Form in person, OR send a person with a notarised written agreement. You will also have to submit a copy of your ID card/passport and the two signed photographs.

Regardless of the method for registration, we have to receive your documents and payment by the announced deadline. Registration after the deadline is subject to availability.
Standard application forms sent by fax or email are not accepted, but you can choose to register online instead.

The test fee in 2013 is BGN 345.00.
You can make a bank transfer to Citibank, IBAN Leva – BG24 CITI 9250 1051 0009 03. If you prefer to register in person, you can pay the fee at the time of registration in cash or by debit/credit card at the British Council Sofia.

Special Arrangements
We can make Special Arrangements for candidates so that they can take the test on an equal footing with other candidates.Test centres require three months' notice to put special arrangements in place. We need to confirm arrangements with Cambridge ESOL, and modified versions of the test may need to be prepared (for example, in Braille).The request needs to be supported by original medical documentation, which meets the following citeria:

  • The medical evidence should be legible and either in English or in Bulgarian.
  • The medical evidence should be an original document on headed paper and bearing the name, relevant qualification(s) and signature of a recognised practitioner.

  • The medical evidence should give a clear statement of the candidate’s disability.
  • The medical evidence should make it clear how the disability justifies Special Arrangements.
  • In the case of specific learning difficulties (i.e. dyslexia), evidence must include details of the degree of disability; an assurance that the evidence of specific difficulties was obtained through the results of appropriate and recognised tests, and a report must be provided by a fully qualified psychologist.
  • The medical evidence must be in the form of a report prepared in a period no more than two years before the test date.

Refunds / Transfers
Requests for cancellations and transfers will be considered only if submitted before the deadline for registration for your test date; candidates will be charged cancellation/transfer fee of BGN 85.00.

If you are taken ill on the fixed test date the full fee is refundable less an administrative charge of BGN 85.00 provided that an original medical certificate confirming illness on the test date (bolnichen list for candidates who are employed, or medicinska belezhka accompanied by ambulatoren list for candidates who are not employed) is submitted to our Centre within 5 working days of the fixed test date. If you are over 18 years old, but not employed, you have to submit proof (a copy of a university or school student card, registration as unemployed, etc.)If you are taken ill on your Speaking date, please contact us immediately to check if a new arrangement is possible.

About 10 days before the chosen test date you will receive by email your timetable and additional instructions. It is your responsibility to check with us, if you have not received the email one week before the test date.
