Teaching Centre would like to introduce the new 21-hour Write Right course for students who wish to improve their writing skills within a specifically academic context. We concentrate on the process of building an accurate and successful piece of writing and provide models for students to work from. This is an approach which builds confidence and helps develop successful writing.

Key components of the course include:

• Basic mechanics of writing
• Drafting and editing
• Organising and developing ideas
• Coherence and cohesion
• Sentence structure and academic style
• Writing different types of paragraphs and academic essays
• Avoiding common errors

The course features a variety of practical activities for practising the techniques of text construction. Students will be exposed to models at sentence, paragraph and text level and analyse them in terms of structure, register and the effectiveness of language use.
