In our visual arts programme of events, our main objective in Bulgaria is to develop and increase knowledge and appreciation of UK achievements in the fields of fine art, photography, video and design.

We work across all disciplines in visual arts, including painting, photography and video and drawings. Priority is given to the promotion of contemporary art from the UK. You can find here more information about the Art Watch exhibition displayed in the British Council premises in Sofia.

We work in close collaboration with our colleagues from Visual Arts Department in London. The Visual Art department supports independent initiatives by overseas galleries wishing to show work by artists resident in the UK. UK artists who have been invited to exhibit abroad can apply for financial assistance under our Grants to Artists Scheme.
