In March 2006, the British Ambassador Mr Richard Kinchen hosted the official launch of a first Belgium UK alumni network at his residence.

Alumni present were Belgian Chevening alumni, former members of the Oxford University Foreign Service programme (OUFSP) serving in Brussels and current students of the OUFSP.
After the welcome speech by Mr Richard Kinchen, Mr Stephan Roman, Regional Director West-Europe and North-America of the British Council confirmed the importance of such a network when developing mutually beneficial and lasting relationships between the people of the UK and people around the world. This network will help members keep up to date with the latest development in the UK in a wide variety of fields including science, technology, economics, politics, arts and culture.
It will also provide a platform for members to exchange ideas and share similar interests through a variety of activities.
Building on the enthusiasm of the Chevening scholars who were present we will continue meeting the UK alumni with a next event planned in June 2006.
