FOCUS89 film festival at Flagey

Celebrate the past 20 years of (r)evolution in Europe at Flagey, 9 to 15 November! Through a selection of films and accompanying debates, the FOCUS89 film festival will explore the build-up to 1989 and its far-reaching consequences on contemporary European culture and society.

In conversation with Timothy Garton Ash

In line with the Focus89 Film Festival, Flagey invites acclaimed British writer and historian Timothy Garton Ash to Brussels. On 15 November, Mr Garton Ash will discuss his book The File, republished for the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, in which he describes his experiences with East Germany’s STASI.

Flagship debate: Our Shared Europe

Our flagship debate 'Europe & Islam: Whose Identity Crisis?' seeks to challenge the growing mutual mistrust between those Europeans who are Muslim and those Europeans who are not. The debate takes place in the European Parliament on 19 November.
