National Science Week - Brazil government's website
National Science and Technology Week
3 to 9 October 2005

This is the second year of the National Science week, established in 2004 by the Brazilian Ministry for Science and Technology. We will take part once again this year, focusing on the ZeroCarbonCity Campaign and science centres.

RIO DE JANEIRO

The NSEW (NorthSouthEastWest)poster exhibition will take place at two different tents that will be especially built for the Science Week:

  • Largo da Carioca: 3 to 5 October, from 08:00 to 18:00h
  • Aterro do Flamengo: 6 to 9 Octover, from 08:00 to 18:00h

Also in Rio, in partnership with the Museu da Vida, we will be holding a round table debate on science centres and the public, with Stuart Monro, Scientific Director of Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh, and Paulette McManus, researcher at the Museum and Heritage Studies of the University College London and Pedro Paulos Soares, Director of the Museu da Vida/Casa de Oswaldo Cruz/Fiocruz.

RECIFE

The NSEW poster exhibition will be set up inside the Espaço Ciência's 'science-mobile', and will tour the city, stopping at different venues, such as schools and the science poles which will be running a variety of science activities for the public in general.

FLORIANÓPOLIS

The UFSC is organising a talk with Stuart Monro, Scientific Director of Dynamic Earth, for the graduates and post-graduates of Science Education, as well as a workshop with a group who are preparing a proposal for launching a science centre in Florianópolis.

BRASILIA

The NSEW poster exhibition will be set up at Universidade de Brasilia, on 3 October.
