British Council Colombia
Guide to the Organisation of Science and Technology in the UK

This is a guide to the organisation of the UK public sector in the Science and Technology area, describing the responsibilities and assignments of each agency or department. It is a reference publication, and also details the main changes which the sector has been through over the past few years. It provides a general overview of government responsibilities regarding research and development, particularly in areas partially or fully funded by the government. The structure presented is based mainly on how to address funding matters for the sector. Major Science domains were grouped under the responsibility of certain Ministries and Research Councils. However, as the Government decentralises its operation, the structure becomes more complex. Non-government organisations funded by the government also have an unprecedented role in the sector structure, and are included here.
