The agenda reflected international issues such as biodiversity, the post Rio process culminating in 2010 and the Darwin bicentenary in 2009. The conference had focus on Darwin's ideas and how they impact in the modern world.

This conference aimed to reinforce the main basic ideas of Evolution through Natural Selection – emphasizing its relevance to practical applications in the present day.
