8th Brazilian Scientific Journalism Conference

Invited by the British Council, the Professor of Cultural History of Emmanuel College-Cambrige, Peter Burker, will open the event talking about "Center and Periphery in the History of the knowledge". The Conference will bring together many of the journalists that work in the national media: TV, radio, newspaper and magazines, internet and it is also a great opportunity to attend workshops, short courses, lectures and appreciate some scientific exhibitions.

BRITISH NATURALISTS HONOURED IN MANAUS
On 27 September, 2004, in Manaus, Amazonas, a plaque in honour of the British naturalists Henry Walter Bates and Alfred Russel Wallace was inaugurated.
