Fernando Haddad, Minister of Education, presented, the new Education Development Plan (PDE – Plano de Desenvolvimento da Educação). According to Minister Haddad the budget for education will significantly increase in the next years. The plan aims at improving the quality of education mainly teaching and learning.

As one of Consed’s international partner, the British Council (Cristina Dale, Director of Operations Brazil) made a presentation on key projects between the two institutions and Secretariats of Education in the last ten years. She stressed the importance of the two signed MOU’s between the two governments, Brazil and UK, and Consed and British Council. The focus of the presentation was the Regional School Leadership project. In Brazil it has been piloted in five states. The project was enthusiastically received by the Secretaries of Education and mutuality was the tone of the presentation.

The State Secretary of Education of Tocantins, Maria Auxiliadora Seabra (Dorinha), was elected unanimously by the State Secretaries of Education as the new President of Consed.
