The 12th edition of the "It’s All True" festival once again had the support of the British Council and features a British production: "Saving Jazz" by Leslie Woodhead.
"Saving Jazz”, brings into the light the 82 year old photographer Herman Leonard that, through his lens, immortalized some of the greatest icons of jazz music. Names such as Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, among others, are part of his image repertoire. However, when hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, the city where Leonard has his studio, part of his photo archive is severely damaged by flooding. Woodhead`s documentary follows the photographer’s painful return to his studio and city, along with all his efforts to recover his life’s work.
Leslie Woodhead, who was present in the 2006 edition of the festival with the support of the British Council, worked on television during 28 years, became a freelancer in 1989 and started to make films for the BBC.
The festival began on 22 March in Sao Paulo and ended in Porto Alegre, on April 29.
