SOPEG was created in 1979 with the objetctive of integrating people who had studied or worked in the United Kingdom, so that they could share their experiences. Since its begining, it has been dedicating itself to activities related to the British culture in Recife, as well as to the presentation of ideas and experiences among its associates and guests.
The idea of the board for the year 2007 is the participation in simple events and activities, provided they are useful in areas such as public health, education, citizenship and culture. The focus on social events is kept and is very important for sharing experiences. To fulfill its objectives, SOPEG has been receiving the support of the British Council in Recife, especially for the organisation of events and invitation of foreign speakers, within its constantly pleasant, receptive and professional atmosphere.
To make public its activities, SOPEG has a website on Internet (www.sopeg.net). There, we intend to include articles related to the interest of associates and of people with some conection with the UK, as well as to present future events so that contact becomes easier.
