The British Consul General in São Paulo, Martin Raven, opened the event in our Recife Office last 15th May. The main speaker, Paul Barnett, an Englishman from London, who has chosen Recife as his home, talked to an audience of around 40 people, about the changing perceptions of Brazil in Europe and what that means to Brazilian’s trying to sell products, services or cultural product there. Using actual case studies Paul explained the lessons he has learned and gave an explanation of how he is using them to develop the strategy behind his latest ventures which blends music, fashion and design to create authentic Brazilian brands such as the DJ Dolores fashion label.
The presentation also explained the importance of trend spotting and connecting with social and cultural trends and had testimonials from, DJ Dolores who has achieved international fame with a music style that is deeply rooted in Brazilian culture; DJ Cliffy an English DJ who just celebrates 10 years of Batmacumba, his regular Brazilian night at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London and it has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary; Melissa de Andrade, a Chevening Scholar who is studying MSc in E-Business at University of Westminster and Barbara Wagner whose photographic portraitsof Brasilia Teimosa are currently being exhibited in British and European galleries.
