Celebrating Customer Service Week
5 to 11 October 2009

The British Council are members of the Institute of Customer Service and this year the Education UK Partnership team joined in the celebrations of Customer Service Week, which took place in October 2009.

Daily customer service blog
To celebrate Customer Service Week, we hosted a daily blog and welcomed anyone interested in sharing their experiences of customer service, good and bad, to visit the blog and comment on the posts. The activity on the blog throughout the week gave us an insight into what our customers and our team think makes good customer service.

You can visit the blog to read the posts here:

Other activities to celebrate Customer Service Week

Members of the senior leadership team, Martyn Edwards, Head of Communications and Marketing, Duncan Cramp, Business Development Manager, and Peter Shelley, Business Development Manager, took over the Partnership helpdesk, taking the calls and dealing with enquiries during Customer Service Week.

This gave Martyn, Peter and Duncan a greater insight into what our customers need and what support they require on a day-to-day basis.

The University of Leeds visited the Partnership team in the Manchester office for half a day during Customer Service Week to discuss how the Partnership supports their internationalisation strategy.
Partnership Services and Relations Managers Katie Jellicoe and Chris Brooks spent half a day at the University of Salford to get an insight into the international office and their work and look at how Partnership services could be used more effectively. Colleagues from the University of Salford then visited the British Council for the remainder of the day to gain an insight into the Education UK Partnership team’s roles and projects, and to develop links with key contacts.
Yogita Patel met with visiting member institutions in order to identify their customer service needs and help them to find out more about the latest Partnership developments.

If you would like to offer a visit at your institution or would like to arrange a visit to the team in Manchester, please contact Andrew Edmondson. Find out more about our job shadowing scheme.
