This project is financed by the UK Government and implement by the British Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Project objective

ProAccession project aims to strengthen the capacities of key government officials from the Ministry of Defence BiH and the Ministry of Security BiH along with its agencies, namely people who actively use the English language in their everyday work. This project is meant for those who feel the need to improve the techniques and skills of successful communicating in the process of EU and NATO integration.

Partners

Our key project implementation partners are Ministry of Defence BiH, Ministry of Security BiH and its agencies, as well as the Civil Service Agency BiH. The programme is officially accredited by the national Civil Service Agency. Content and face-to-face training is prepared and delivered by the British Council experts based on the material developed by the British Council Centre in Brussels.

Project elements

ProAccession programme is developed according to the needs identified with partner institutions and adapted especially to the professional context of participating Ministries and includes:

Training of employees

Non-intensive training for up to 100 civil servants within Ministry of Security and Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina who effectively use the English language in the professional environment and who need to develop and upgrade specific soft skills which will contribute to more effective functioning in the international context.

Training of trainers

Combination of non-intensive and intensive training of up to 10 trainers who effectively use the English language and who have the need to develop skills of transferring knowledge of effective communication and functioning in the international context.  To ensure sustainability, local trainers will be able to continue independently delivering training sessions in the covered skills within their institutions as well as across the public sector.  

Activities and skills addressed
  • Preparing and holding presentations in English (September 13 – October 21, 2010)
  • Formal correspondence and writing reports in English (November 8 – December 16, 2010)
  • Holding and attending meetings in English (January 31 – March 10, 2010)
  • Parallel and intensive training of trainers in all mentioned skills

  • Negotiation Skills in the Context of EU and NATO (12 September  – 20 October 2011)
  • Writing Project Proposals (31 October – 8 December 2011)
  • Lobbying and Influencing Skills in the Context of EU and NATO (30 January – 8 March 2012)

Activities and skills to be addressed n Phase III

  • Leadership Skills for of EU and NATO integration (September –October 2012)
  • Project Management Skills within EU and NATO context(November – December 2012)
  • Project Monitoring and Evaluation Skills within EU and NATO context (February – March 2013)
