Who we are
Our purpose is to build mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK and other countries and to increase appreciation of the UK’s creative ideas and achievements.

This work is driven by our strong belief in internationalism, a commitment to professionalism and an enthusiasm for creativity. These qualities, coupled with our integrity and our conviction that cultural relations can help individuals and the world community to thrive, make us a good partner and a special place to work.

Our activity and programmes deliver direct benefit for Britain both at home and abroad. You can find further information about who we are in our about us section.

The numbers behind our work
We operate in the UK and another 110 countries and territories worldwide.

We employ 7,900 staff. In 2006/07 we had a total turnover £551 million from which £188 million is our core grant-in-aid received from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Our projected turnover for 2007/08 is £584million - this figure includes income earned from our Teaching & Exams and Contract Management businesses.

UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI)
UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) is a new initiative, working to create a 'step change' in educational relations between India and the UK over the next five years, so that in the longer term the two countries become each other's partner of choice in education.

Education UK- promoting UK educational opportunities
Our EducationUK website provides an easy-to-search database of courses on offer in the UK (including English language, degree and postgraduate courses).
