How to apply

We operate an equal opportunites policy. This means that we do not accept CVs as formal applications for employment.

Our jobs are advertised in the national press; usually in The Guardian and/or relevant professional journals. Manchester-based jobs are often advertised in the Manchester Evening News.

All initial appointments are on fixed-term contract.

If you are interested in our teaching opportunities, you can review our current vacancies and apply online.

What about short-term work in the UK?

We use a contracted staff agency to fill short-term administrative jobs in London and Manchester.

What if you want to work in a British Council office in a particular country?

In our offices overseas most staff are nationals of the country concerned. Jobs are advertised in the local press. Contact the relevant overseas office for information. The addresses of our offices overseas are on this Web site and in Whitaker's Almanac.
