HOW TO REGISTER FOR IELTS
4 steps to apply for IELTS

Please note that registrations for the IELTS test in our current locations (Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Strasbourg & Toulouse) in France are centralised by the British Council office in Paris. You can take your IELTS test at various dates throughout the year in any of those locations, however IELTS registrations are always handled by the British Council in Paris.

Number 1 Read the Information for Candidates pdf icon brochure and our Refund and Transfer Policy pdf icon prior to registering for the test.
Number 2 Check dates and locations for the tests.

Number 3 Prepare the following documents before you reserve your place, as we must receive them within 5 working days of your registration online (we strongly recommend that you use an express postal service):

  • two recent photos (passport size)
(photographs must be no more than 6 months old, be taken against a plain background, show the candidate with a neutral expression, with mouth closed and no glasses. N.B: Please be aware that your picture appears on your Test Result Form)
  • a photocopy of your ID (passport or European ID card)
  • payment of €190.00 by cheque made out to the 'British Council', by bank transfer (our bank details are available below - you must send us a proof of payment with your application) or in cash (only with the correct amount at the British Council Paris reception desk). Please note that from the 1st April 2012, the IELTS registration fee will be of €190.00

If we do not receive your documents within 5 working days of your online registration, your application will be cancelled automatically.

Number 4 Register using our Online Registration System. It will take you only about 10 minutes to reserve a place on the date of your choice.
Please note that you must print the 'Application Summary' or the email that will be sent to you at the end of the online registration process and send it to us, along with the documents requested in step 3 above, ensuring that we receive them within five working days:
