MADE IN BRITAIN is this year’s edition of the Backstage Festival organised by the Comédie de Saint Etienne. This annual festival specializes in new and cross-disciplinary art forms including theatre, dance, video, music, art and design and others that are presented in a mischievous and irreverent way to reflect the current preoccupations of modern society.
MADE IN BRITAIN proposes a focus on the UK’s contemporary production showcasing the best of British creativity. Featuring in the programme are performances by Ursula Martinez, Forced Entertainment and Station House Opera, concerts by Martina Topley Bird and DJ Mush and a Michael Powell/Emeric Pressburger retrospective.
La Comédie de Saint-Etienne collaborates with the art magazine Les Cahiers Intempestifs that dedicate their #25 & #26 issues to the young generation of designers such as John Dilnot, Matt Lumby, Nancy Campbel or Finlay Taylor as well as more established ones including the work of Forced Entertainment and Station House Opera.
The British Council is a key partner of this festival as part of its work to promote British new art forms and bring emerging artists to new audiences through innovative collaborations between the UK and France.
