INSPIRE Policy Dialogues provide opportunities for policy makers and practitioners to come together and collaborate on Higher Education issues. Policy Dialogues will focus on a specific policy area, exploring the issues, highlight problem areas and devising recommendations for a way forward
•bring together a unique mix of policy makers and practitioners to contribute to the development of HE policies of national and international relevance
•strengthen partnership and collaboration between the UK and countries in Central & South Asia including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Going Global 2011 took place at the HKCEC, Hong Kong, from the 10- 12 March 2011. Going Global 2011 was the first Going Global conference to take place overseas and attracted around 1000 delegates from over 70 countries.

British Council Bangladesh) in partnership with the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) hosted a two-day Regional Policy Dialogue (RPD) from 7-8 December 2011 where delegates from Bangladesh, United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and China (Hong Kong) has participate. This RPD followed by a one-day Bangladesh Policy Dialogue (BPD) on 9 December 2011, which was designed for the Bangladesh delegates from the Universities, Industries, Corporate Sectors, Donor Agencies, NGOs, etc. The BPD was facilitated by UK Experts. A common and unique theme “Universities and Communities” has been selected for both of the Dialogues
British Council promotes and supports strengthening capacity in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) through the further development of professional and leadership skills. Due to the changing phenomena of higher educational institutes, it is required to reinvent the dimensions of leadership in higher education.
There will be twenty three participating Vice Chancellors from Public and Private Universities and five representatives from the UGC. Dr Hank Williams, a management and organisation development consultant from UK will facilitate the workshop while Dr Barry Winn, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Bradford University, UK and Claire Bradshaw, Head of Staff Development, Loughborough University, UK will contribute as facilitators through video conference.
The core agenda of the workshop include Concept of Leadership/management skills in Higher Education, Strengthening Leadership Capacity, Leadership Development Strategies, Leadership Challenges, British Council Support for Leadership Development. Participants will be benefitted strengthening leadership capacities through discussing, sharing and thinking to solve the multi-dimensional challenges of higher educational institutes.
