British Council Bangladesh UK Alumni Network (BCBUKAN) is a programme of British Council Bangladesh to establish, maintain and strengthen relationship with the Bangladeshi people who received their academic degree(s) from a UK institution. Under the BCBUKAN Project, British Council Bangladesh started maintaining relations with all UK alumni both in organizational and individual level through different channels as follows. Interested graduates and alumni organisations are requested to download the registration form, fill it up and send back to the contact person mentioned below. They are also requested to subscribe to the following yahoogroups.
UKAAB is an independent association of the UK graduates which has been launched on 23 March 2012 with the support of British Council. BC will initially support UKAAB but it will eventually be a self sufficient body that will function as a platform for all UK graduates in Bangladesh. Asia Regional UK Alumni Programme The Asia Regional Alumni event took place in Dubai from 3-5 March 2012, where delegates from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Malaysia participated in a 3 day long leadership break through training facilitated by a UK based organisation- "Middle Ground" and sponsored by British Council.
While sharing their experience, Mahreen Mamoon and Imam Hossain expressed their thanks and gratitude towards British Council for arranging the event and sponsoring them. “It was one of the most valuable training event that has helped me to understand my inner self and to realise my rackets and strengths” Mahreen said. “The training has boosted up a lot to dream for a positive change for my country and for leading the process of change” Barrister Imam added.
A total 46 delegates from four countries attended the event while British Council Bangladesh sponsored 8 delegates.

Launching of BC Bangladesh UK Alumni Network, UKAAB and Press Briefing on Asia Regional UK Alumni Event
British Council Bangladesh UK Alumni Network was launched on 23 March 2012 to establish and strengthen network among the UK Alumni through a process of registration where the newly formed UK Alumni Association of Bangladesh (UKAAB) has been endorsed.
Matthew Knowles, of British Council stated that British Council values Bangladesh with high importance for its programme across education, cultural relations and English. As UK alumni are the experienced clients of UK education, British Council always wants to make them feel valued. Thus it has taken initiatives to strengthen the alumni network.
Professor Dr. Harun-or-Rashid conveyed his thanks to British Council for sponsoring today’s event and extending all necessary supports to build and strengthen the alumni network and activities. He has called for the UK alumni to extend their schemes for social welfare activities especially for underprivileged people.
HE Robert Gibson CMG, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh insisted that UK alumni can play important role in the bilateral partnership between UK and Bangladesh. He has also promised to extend all possible support to the UK alumni and expressed his interest to continue discussions with the UK alumni and to explore scope for co-operations.
Dr Gowher Rizvi, Advisor to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs expressed his happiness to be able to attend the first time ever UK alumni event being a UK alumnus. He shared his experiences and memories of studying and teaching in Oxford University in particular and in UK in general. He has stated, “in some countries, the best universities are best and the worse are the worst, but in UK, all universities maintain high quality education”.
Two other participants shared their experience of the Asia Regional UK Alumni Event. Approximately 200 UK alumni registered themselves in BC Bangladesh UK Alumni Network and UKAAB.
