What Is IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System, (IELTS) is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication.

What are the modules of IELTS?
Candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

How long IELTS valid for?
IELTS is valid for 2 years from date of exam.

How often do you conduct exams per month?
Three times in every month.

For whom IELTS is required?
IELTS is recognised by universities, employers, professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies in many countries including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the US

In line with advice from government immigration agencies, a change to the regulations relating to IELTS candidate photographs will be implemented from 1 January 2010.

Candidates registering after 1 January 2010 must not wear glasses in the photographs they submit for IELTS registration

What are the modules of IELTS?
Academic: The reading and writing tests are based on academic material.
General: Suitable for secondary education, work, training and immigration to English speaking countries.

How  IELTS get scored?
IELTS measures language proficiency by an internationally-recognised nine (9) band score system
Each Band corresponds to a descriptive statement giving a summary of English competence.
Overall Band Scores can be reported in either whole or half Bands.

How can I Apply for IELTS?
Online registrations or please contact IELTS team. Or log on to www.britishcouncil.org/bangladesh

Registrations are on a first come first served basis

What are the fees of IELTS?

Is there any mock Tests available?
The British Council sometimes conducts mock tests; however there is no fixed schedule and will be announced from time to time.

Can I transfer of date or Centre?
Transfer/Postponement fee is Tk.2000/-  
The application for transfer should reach us at least 5 weeks before the test date.

If the postponement/transfer request reaches us within 5 weeks of the test date or at least 5 days prior to the test date and the reason cited for the postponement is due to medical reasons then the postponement fee is Tk.2000/- . In such a case the candidate has to enclose the medical certificate and copy of medical report as well.

The transfer form can be collected from our exam front counter

Can I cancel my exam?
Applications for cancellation should reach us 5 weeks before the test date.
Cancellation fee is Tk.2000/-

Return your original receipt from British Council office along with the cancellation form.

Request for transfer/postponements/cancellations made less than 5 weeks from the exam date can be considered only under medical/family/academic emergencies. Candidates should provide valid original documents to support their claim while making such requests. These requests will be granted only at the discretion of the Head of IELTS.

How or when I will have results?
Will be posted (speed-post) 12 days after the test date.
If a candidate wants to collect the TRF in person s/he can tell this to the invigilator taking the candidates attendance on the day of the exam.

Individual and overall band score will also be available on the website: http://ielts-results.britishcouncil.org/ or www.britishcouncil.org/bangladesh and click on IELTS results. The system will not display results older than 28 days.

Results are issued as Band Scores between 0 - 9.

Can I get my result through Fax or Email?
Results will NOT be given over the telephone, fax or e-mail.

Is there any way of Re-checking/Re-evaluation?
Requests for rechecking and re-evaluation should be given within 6 weeks from the date of the exam
EAR cost is –Tk. 7500/-(This amount will be refunded to the candidate if there is a change in the scores after rechecking)
