Our Literature Department promotes British and Commonwealth literature. We organise, or provide support to, a wide range of literature events overseas, working with over 300 writers annually.

This site produced by our Literature Department and the British Centre for Literary Translation aims to celebrate the art of translation and bring to a new audience an appreciation of the complexities and richness of this art form.

WORLD BOOK DAY
World Book Day is a big event supporting books and readings. We celebrated this day with various activities: new book displays, interesting sessions for children and adults, teachers and parents. Lots of prizes, lotteries and fun.

Contemporary literature in the UK
We invited a well-known British writer, Geoff Dyer, who ran two creative writing workshops for English literature lovers in Baku.

Road Competition
We brought together five countries from Europe - Hungary, Romania, Russia, Georgia and Azerbaijan in a writing and photo competition called Road.
