A public debate on the merits of different forms of energy generation that are not fossil fuel burning. Everyone has an opinion on whether nuclear power is worth the risks but are other alternatives really viable, such as solar, wind or wave power?
- What do we need to do to combat climate change?
- How advanced is wind power and solar power technology?
- What about all the radioactive waste?
- What are the economics of the various energy generating methods?

As part of the Beautiful Science programme we are initiating conversations and discussions about the connections between science, technology and society. It is a concept that has been adapted by the British Council to engage a wider audience with science and the impact it has on our lives.
The debates on scientific issues have been commissioned to UK scientist and media fellow Jim Al-Khalili.
