If you know his/her name and address you may try one of the UK phone books on the internet:

If you know their former address, you may write to the local library there. They might be able to help you find their present address. Find UK Public libraries online.

You can also search the web database of Friends Reunited which lists 40,000 UK Secondary and Primary Schools, Colleges and Universities and workplaces.

Family history can also be traced by searching the national archives at the Public Record Office.

The British Embassy can assist you with any questions you have concerning visas or UK entry requirements. The British Embassy is the official representation of the United Kingdom in Austria and can be contacted with any questions about residence permits, work permits and trade-related matters. They have recently launched a new telephone-based information service and website to assist applicants seeking a visa for the United Kingdom.

The UK visas website will also give you basic information about visa requirements for the UK.

	Look at the Office for National Statistics website. Here you can find information on the labour market, population, migration, the 2001 census and much more.
