The British Council and the Examining Boards take all reasonable steps to provide continuity of service.
We feel sure you will understand, however, that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council’s liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or re-testing at a later date.
Please note the registration closing dates for our exams. In some cases it is possible to make a late registration, but only upon payment of an additional late fee.
Cambridge exams
In accordance with the Cambridge ESOL Regulations, registrations cannot be transferred either to another examination date or to another Cambridge ESOL examination level. Please note that Cambridge ESOL only offers a refund of the examination fee – minus an administrative fee of €60 – for medical reasons or in cases of military service. In these cases a medical certificate or military call-up documents must be presented.
IELTS
If you request a postponement or cancellation of your test less than 5 weeks before the test date you will normally be charged the full test fee, unless your request is for medical reasons and you are able to provide appropriate medical evidence to support your request. Your medical certificate must be received no later than 5 days after the test date. Then the test fee is refunded minus a local administrative charge of € 60,-.
Other exams
For cancellations based on medical grounds (medical certification) or cancellations made up to 10 working days before the examination and administrative charge of EUR 80,-- will be deducted. For cancellations made within 10 working days before the examination the total exams fee will be retained. Payment of the fee confirms your agreement with the conditions outlined.
