Visas
In most cases the British Council in Vietnam will help expedite your visa application. If the British Council is not involved in your visa application process, your contact should give you full details of the procedures you need to follow.

You will need to take the following to your nearest Vietnamese Embassy:

  • 2 completed visa application forms (available from the Embassy)
  • 2 passport-size photos
  • a valid passport (entry to Vietnam is normally refused to visitors holding passports with less than six months validity)
  • fee: Tourist (single entry) £38; Business: £55 (1 month); £70 (3 months) and £90 (for 6 months or 1 year)

You will need your passport and any other letter of agreement or contract you have with a partner organisation in Vietnam for proof of:

  • your full name (according to the passport)
  • date and place of birth
  • nationality
  • profession
  • passport number, date and place of issue, date of expiry
  • date and place of entry into Vietnam
  • intended length of stay.

To stamp the visa, the Vietnamese embassy usually requires the applicant’s passport for two working days. No vaccination certifications are needed for visas to Vietnam.

Forms
One copy of the exit/entry and customs declaration form must be completed upon arrival. One copy of the entry/exit/customs declaration form is for you to keep. Do not lose this form (green or yellow paper), as you must present it when you leave the country.  Loss of this form could result in fine and/or other hassles.

Keep your baggage claim tag (usually stuck to the back of your air ticket) as this is usually requested on arrival.
