Work Permits If you will be performing in Taiwan, then the organisation which contracted you in Taiwan must apply for a performance permit from the Bureau of International Cultural & Educational Relations (Ministry of Education).
Visas A visa is not required by UK nationals for visits of less than 14 days. However, please note that passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of return travel. Failure to comply will result in refusal of entry.
If you do not hold a UK passport or should you require a visa for a period longer than 14 days or a multiple entry visa, please contact the Taipei Representative Office. Further information regarding visa requirements and application.
Tax For an individual who stays in the Republic of China not more than 90 days within a taxable year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31), the income derived from sources in the Republic of China is subject to 20% tax withholding
Carnets Theatrical effects bound for Taiwan are permitted entry under EC/CPD/China-Taiwan Carnet which operates in a similar manner to the ATA Carnet. The Taiwan Carnet covers goods temporarily imported/exported between the EU and Taiwan and the conditions for its use are identical to those of the ATA Carnet.
Carnets can be issued for the following categories of goods:
- Commercial Samples and Advertising Film
- Goods for International Exhibition
- Professional Equipment (includes theatrical effects such as musical instruments, sound and lighting equipment, costumes, scenery and other stage properties)
