Work Permits/Visas
Prior to applying for a work visa, your promoter, agent or producer must give the New Zealand Immigration Service evidence that the relevant New Zealand Union or Professional Association has agreed to your entry. Details of who to contact, and Application to Work in New Zealand forms are available online from the Department of Immigration in the Work Visa and Permit Policies subsection of the Work section.

Tax
Visiting artists are exempt from New Zealand tax obligations, though a 12.5% Goods and Services Tax (GST) is charged on all purchases within the country. Further information can be found online in the Non-Residential Entertainers factsheet.

Carnets
For any imports, an Import Entry form should be completed (available from the Customs website) and presented along with a cash deposit as security to cover import duties and GST. The Temporary Imports section of this website has information on the ATA carnet, which is accepted in lieu of security for temporary importation of non-consumable goods.
