Visas
Visitors to Mozambique require a visa. Visas can be issued within seven working days from the Mozambican High Commission in London. You may be required to produce a letter of invitation which your host will provide. Single entry visas valid for thirty days can also be obtained at the Mozambican border and at the airport in Maputo. If you are flying from a country without a Mozambican High Commission there is no additional charge, otherwise an additional 25% is charged. A letter of invitation is recommended, and you must be prepared for a wait of up to 1 hour.

Tax
An airport tax of US$20 is payable on departure. Foreigners must pay this in US Dollars or Rands. On internal flights there is a departure tax (currently 120,000 meticais) payable in local currency or dollars.

Health
Prophylactics against malaria are essential. The recommended dosage is mefloquim (larium) weekly or 2 paludrine daily and 2 nivaquine/avloclor (chloroquine) weekly. It is advisable to start taking antimalaria pills one week before arrival and continue for four weeks after departure. The best option however is to avoid getting bitten. Use anti-mosquito sprays liberally especially after dark.

Vaccination against yellow fever is required if arriving from infected areas.
