Visas/Work Permits/Entry Clearance/Tax
All details on work permits, visas, entry clearance, and tax can be obtained from the Japanese Embassy in London

Carnets
It is easiest to use carnets to export works of art or any exhibitions to Japan. But no works can be sold in this case and all items must be returned after the show within one year. If it is a cultural (not commercial) exhibition at public museums the carnets are not needed and the museums will deal with customs clearance themselves.

Freight
It is preferable that Japanese shipping agents or British agents affiliated with Japanese agents handle shipping arrangements.

Insurance
Japanese exhibition organisers or Japanese museums usually prefer Japanese insurance companies for insurance as their rate is cheaper in general than British ones.
