Work Permits/Visas
The performing group/artist needs to apply for an Employment Visa in advance. The validity duration of this kind of visa depends on how long the artist/group would be staying in Hong Kong. It lasts for 1 month basically. The presenter (e.g. Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) - a government body which presents cultural programmes in Hong Kong) will normally do the group application on behalf of the artists. In case there is no such government body as the presenter, the artist may need to apply for the visa individually.

Entry Clearance
No special entry clearance is needed in Hong Kong except when the group comprises of people with Taiwanese passport/from communist countries, whose details need to be reported to the Immigration Department.

Tax
The agent for the artist/group needs to discuss with the presenter in Hong Kong who the tax bearer will be. For all overseas artists they need to pay approximately 15% tax of the artists' fee to Hong Kong Government. If the presenter is LCSD, they will pay the tax for the artists.

Insurance
Insurance is the artist/group's own responsibility.

Freight/Carnets
This part should be taken care of by the freight agent used by the presenter locally. Only when the performance requires prohibited items as props/costumes (e.g. ivory), such details need to be reported to customs.
