ARTISTIC POLICY Russell Maliphant’s work is characterised by a unique approach to flow and energy and a concern with the relationship between movement, light and music. Drawing on his experience and practice of the disciplines of capoeira, tai chi, yoga and contact improvisation, his language is one of form and dynamics; elegant, articulate and resonant. He is committed to assimilating the diverse ability and understanding embodied by experienced individuals into his work, resulting in productions of technical excellence and high production values.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS Transmission Ensemble work for five performers celebrating Maliphant’s long standing collaboration with lighting designer Michael Hulls.
Push Duet balancing sensuality and edginess, originally created by Maliphant for himself and Sylvie Guillem and now reworked and presented by the company.
Flux A solo for dancer Alexander Varona, inspired by the dancer’s fluid quality of movement and sculptural form (10 mins)
One Part II Solo danced by Maliphant with music by J.S. Bach. (15 mins)
Two Times Three Mesmerising work in which the dancers are trapped in boxes of light, their movements elegant and dazzling. Music by Andy Cowton. (10 mins)
WRAP-AROUND ACTIVITY Individual one-off workshops and longer residencies can be conducted from a minimum of two hours to two weeks. In general these workshops integrate principles and practices from a variety of body-orientated techniques (including yoga, release technique, contact improvisation and the martial arts) to explore the choreographic qualities inherent in Maliphant’s creation of work.
