PERMANENT STAFF Artist/Director Oreet Ashery
ARTISTIC POLICY Oreet Ashery produces site-specific work with the audience as participants, considering the historical, social and architectural context of the space. The work is socially engaged, issue-based, humorous and accessible as well as being dark and political. Ashery employs a fluidity of media and a fluid state of identity and self. The work includes live art, video, sound, interaction and text.
REVIEW EXTRACTS 'Troubling and tentative and unsupervised.' Village Voice, USA
'Instead of hiding in the studio pontificating about sexuality, religion and the like, Ashery is willing to get face to face with the public and act as a mirror to their reactions to these murky subjects.' Sleazenation
'I emerge, tingling with the thrill of a close shave with an alive fetish.' Circa Art Magazine
