ARTISTIC POLICY Green Ginger creates and tours high quality, low-language theatre productions all over the world. With an enviable record for encouraging new audiences, Green Ginger combines fast-paced physical comedy with live music, ingenious sets and projections alongside the latex puppets for which it has been well known.
REVIEW EXTRACTS 'So different from almost anything else you’re likely to see in the theatre… a rare and wonderful thing.' The Guardian
'Dark, funny, fast-moving and gruesome… if all theatre was this much fun we’d have no problems recruiting the next generation of audiences.' Evening Post, Bristol
'Psychologically astute… caustically comic.' New York Times
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS Rust A tale of two pirate radio stations anchored in the same murky waters just off the South Wales coast. A fast-moving story of truth and treachery, piracy and passion, sex and death. Green Ginger’s trademarks - grotesque puppets, animated sets and shiploads of absurd humour, are welded together in a dark comic-book vision of low-life on high seas. (70 mins, no interval, 4 on the road, surtitling available in any language)
Gaston Has been performed in 12 languages across four continents. With his instant portraits with cruel caricature and pencil-sharp wit, Gaston can draw the crowds at any event, indoors or out. (Minimum 90 mins per day, 5x20 min installments, 2 on the road)
PRATs (Positive Response Action Team) PRATs are not afraid to look danger in the eye... and run away. Three insecurity guards patrol the crowds with big enthusiasm and little common sense. A highly mobile unit, the PRATs animate the streets with absurd and surprising interactions. (Minimum 90 mins per day, 3x30 min installments, 3 on the road)
WRAP-AROUND ACTIVITY Both as a commitment to skills sharing and to compliment its touring shows, Green Ginger offers a range of workshops in the techniques and practices employed by the company. Workshops can last from half a day to whole weeks, and cater for all ages.
