ARTISTIC POLICY
Founded in 1995 by theatre director Lucy Bailey and violinist Nell Catchpole, The Gogmagogs combine virtuoso string playing, dynamic physical movement and inventive, groundbreaking theatre.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘After nine years, The Gogmagogs are still number one in a field of one… ingenious, visually thrilling and musically coherent.’ The Guardian

‘An entirely captivating marriage of musical and theatrical performance.’ The Times

‘Exceptional artists… the most entertaining music theatre I’ve seen in years.’ The Independent

CURRENT PRODUCTION
Gumbo Jumbo Devised and directed by Lucy Bailey and performed by seven young classically trained string players. A carnival of comedy, tragedy and poetry with music ranging from classical to big band blues and Madagascan dance rhythms. (70 mins.)

FUTURE PRODUCTION
Sea Trilogy Explores our relationship to the sea, with aerial string players and dancers and using computer-generated imagery by award-winning designer, William Dudley. The sea is resonant of birth and death, and in the experience of the swimmer, wrestling in its arms like a lover, it’s is also the deliverer of sexual/spiritual ecstasy where life is at its most intense. UK premiere, autumn 2008.

WRAP-AROUND
Music-theatre workshops for instrumentalists of all levels and lecture/demonstrations about the company’s work.

RECENT INTERNATIONAL WORK
