ARTISTIC POLICY Phoenix Dance Theatre offers contemporary dance works by Javier De Frutos alongside a diverse range of choreographers in mixed bill evenings, as well as large-scale collaborations with other art forms, exploring the place of dance in such work. The company entertains, inspires and challenges its audiences through communicative work that represents the cultural diversity and experience of life in Britain today. It is committed to widening access through education work, audience development and its creative programme.

CURRENT PRODUCTION Javier De Frutos Triple Bill De Frutos’s sensual, emotive choreography explored through three distinctive works, Paseillo, Los Picadores and Nopalitos, put together for acclaimed performances at the Venice Biennale 2007. (120 mins including two 20 mins intervals, 10 on stage, 15 on the road, contains violent imagery.)
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS Mixed Bill 2008 A distinct programme combining classic modern dance works by Jóse Limón and De Frutos. (120 mins including two intervals, 10 on stage, 15 on the road.)
Cattle Call Dance/music/opera collaboration between Olivier award winning team De Frutos and Richard Thomas (composer/co-writer Jerry Springer The Opera) featuring live musicians on stage. (90 mins including interval, 16 on stage, 21 on the road.)
WRAP-AROUND Education activity including workshops, residencies, lecture demonstrations and post-show discussions can be offered. Schools’ workshops often use the repertoire as a catalyst to explore curriculum topics such as citizenship, history, physics and personal health & social education. Recently the company has been delivering a Wellcome Trust supported project enlivening the delivery of the science curriculum through the medium of dance.
