ARTISTIC POLICY
Nitro is committed to encouraging, commissioning, devising and producing new music theatre by black British writers. The company produces and tours dynamic, innovative and high-quality work that expresses the aspirations, cultures and issues that concern black people today. It also aims to develop black artists by nurturing new and emerging talent whilst encouraging those already established in music, film, video, dance, rap, poetry, and literature.

The Wedding Dance A passionate story of aspiration and betrayal driven by the energy of salsa music and dance. Written by Felix Cross, music by Alex Wilson. (105 mins, 12 on stage, 17 on the road.)

Mass Carib An epic choral piece which uses the liturgical form of the full Catholic Mass and draws on music from West Africa,18th century Europe courts and many different forms and influences of the Caribbean island. Written by Felix Cross. (50 mins, 20 on stage.)

An African Cargo A powerful new music theatre production focused on the repercussions following the brutal killing of 132 slaves thrown into the sea from the slave ship Zong. Written by Margaret Busby. (65 mins, 7 on stage.)

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
The Rake’s Progress The next phase of Nitrogenisis, Nitro’s collaboration with the Royal Opera House. The Rake’s Progress brings together the work of nine contemporary black composers.
