ARTISTIC POLICY
Ludus Dance works predominantly with new and first time dance audiences, exploring dance as a social force and has a 32 year history of producing issue-based dance theatre productions. All productions are accompanied by theme-related dance workshops and highly researched resource materials for pre- and follow-up work. Ludus Dance advocates dance as an educational process and as an art form, creating a legacy of controversial but relevant work that becomes an inspirational, international influence.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘From the reaction of Friday's sell-out show … dance isn't about tutus, tap shoes and flounces, it can tell stories reflecting real life and in doing so, make us approach life's ups and downs with a more broadminded attitude.’ Lancaster Guardian

‘Using fantastically ridiculous costumes, highly imaginative audio-visual aids and a creative brand of abstract dance set against the frenetic pace of techno-beats, Clash turned out to be one of the most provocative stage performances ever seen on the Kuala Lumpur stage.’ The Star Malaysia

‘A fine performance with great choreography, use of film footage, modern music, dynamic and high energy dance to enrapture their audience.’ Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Trapped Directed and choreographed by Rosie Kay, Trapped is a modern fairytale of emotional courage. This is an intriguing story of a young girl and her mother caught in a life ruled by routine. One day the mother fails to return home. The daughter sets off on a journey filled with extreme emotions, where if she is to succeed in finding her mother, she must learn to negotiate a terrifying and at times, seductive terrain. (60 mins, 7 on the road.)

FUTURE PRODUCTION
New Work (title tbc) Promoting community cohesion through explorations of identity. Revealing the process – using new media (podcasts, webcams etc.), the company will consult with a range of people to shape the dance narrative throughout the devising process. (Approx 60 mins, 7 on the road.)

WRAP-AROUND
All workshop activities are directly related to themes within the performance. Each dance workshop is tailor-made to meet the needs of each particular group, with the main focus on developing individual creativity. These workshops are led by the team of highly skilled dancers.
