ARTISTIC POLICY
Gary Stevens is an artist who creates performances and video installations, working with a wide range of visual artists and performers from diverse backgrounds. The work is the result of long, practical and material development; the staging and productions are simple and stark, but the structures are rich, compelling and complex. His solo and ensemble works have been presented internationally in gallery, theatre and dance contexts, festivals and public spaces.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘One of Britain’s most original performers.’ Art Monthly

‘Wake Up and Hide provokes a strange, vaguely omnipotent rush… (it) functions as a witty satire of our interactive press-the-red-button, you-decide-who-goes age.’ The Telegraph

‘Sculptors, filmmakers, performers and realist painters (on the show’s evidence, Stevens’ sensibility is a combination of these) will come flocking from all directions to feast eyes on (it).’ Art Review

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Wake Up and Hide Two-screen interactive video installation with sound. Wake Up and Hide shows two interiors inhabited by performers. Their action may be interrupted by noise from spectators in the gallery. There is a play between contained and impervious images and the intimacy of a live encounter. (1–2 on the road.)

Flock A performance installation featuring a cluster of performers who move as a single amorphous entity, akin to molecules, a flock of birds or a swarm of bees. (3 hrs +.)

Slow Life A five-screen video installation in which momentary encounters between the performers are held to become intimate exchanges, where everyday incidents and seemingly insignificant events are played very slowly. (1–2 on the road.)

FUTURE PRODUCTION
The Box of Hours Large scale video installation.

WRAP-AROUND
Workshops, masterclasses, artist talks, post-performance discussions, lectures/seminars for artists and students in higher education and longer residency periods, working with groups of local or student participants to create a piece.
