ARTISTIC POLICY
Frauke Requardt’s work is characterised by physically challenging choreography, a strong theatricality, dark humour and an overall sense of surrealism. She uses text and live music and a mixture of abstract and emotionally based movement to deliver highly engaging work.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘There was such simple harmony… great stuff!’ Ballet magazine (Back on Track)

‘Fantastic entertainment.’ Robert Clough

‘A gloriously intoxicated cabaret for the end of days.’ Ben Felsenburg (Amazing Kate)

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Jammy Dodgers Requardt challenges her dancers to spontaneously adapt her choreography to the changing nature of improvised jazz music. Full of mischievous humour and chaotic energy, played out to an intimately positioned audience. (60 mins, 12 people on the road, sexually explicit.)

Back on Track A fast-paced, upbeat piece exploring the relationship between precision and awkwardness. Three women dance in unison, almost racing alongside the fast beats of John Zorn’s jazz, each maintaining a stubborn and fascinating status of individuality. (4 on the road.)

FUTURE PRODUCTION
New Work (title tbc) Requardt brings together a group of dancers and a live artist to explore ideas stemming from the life of a jazz musician.

WRAP-AROUND
Education projects for both student groups and professional companies including Amazing Kate, a repertory education project that aims to provide participants with an insight into working structures and contextual starting points, experience of phrase development, and an understanding of the use of improvisation. Back on Track has an accompanying education project that enhances skills in memorising movement material, working in unison, exploring personal ways to perform the set material, and musicality. Both projects are designed to culminate in an informal sharing opportunity for the participants. The company is also interested in devising new education projects and welcomes proposals. Other wrap-around activities can include professional level classes taught by Requardt and other company members, post-performance discussions and repertory classes.
