ARTISTIC POLICY DV8 Physical Theatre's work is about taking risks, both physically and aesthetically, breaking down barriers between dance and theatre, dealing with personal politics and, above all, communicating ideas and feelings clearly and unpretentiously. It is determined to be radical yet accessible, and to take its work to as wide an audience as possible.
REVIEW EXTRACTS ‘Startlingly beautiful… overwhelmingly cinematic… exquisitely corporeal and intimate.’ The Times
‘Extraordinary… each character is vividly portrayed… demands to be seen.’ New York Times
‘Physical perfection… The best contemporary choreography you will see anywhere… a brilliant piece of physical theatre.’ The Stage
CURRENT PRODUCTION To Be Straight With You (Working Title) DV8's Artistic Director Lloyd Newson leads a multi-ethnic cast in a poetic but unflinching exploration of tolerance, intolerance, religion and sexuality. DV8’s new production is based on hundreds of hours of audio interviews collected throughout the UK with people directly affected by these issues. Incorporating dance, text, documentary, animation and film, twenty years on DV8 still refuses to be defined. (Up to 22 on the road, may contain nudity and strong language.)
