ARTISTIC POLICY
DotComedy was formed in 1998. Since its inception the company has developed an acclaimed style, mixing realistic characterisation and situations with bizarre and surreal overtones to produce cutting edge street art shows, which delight and at the same time confuse their audience. The company is renowned for its unique take on reality – creating installations, walkabouts and shows that mix the mundane and the absurd with hilarious results. DotComedy are true mavericks of the street scene.

REVIEW EXTRACT
’The best shows have a clear idea of what they want to achieve – where the performers have the ability to disrupt normality and engage directly with audiences of all ages. A company who do just that [apparently effortlessly] is DotComedy.’ Lyn Gardner, The Guardian

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
GetLost DotComedy’s 20 m2 hedge maze filled with installations, soundscapes, a cast of the uncanny and a somewhat unpredictable minotaur. (4.5 hours, Day/night time show, 11 performers, 14 on the road.)

The Chain A chain of events triggering a domino effect – leading to a loop of disasters which self-perpetuate one another ad infinitum. A random chain of slapstick blunders that develop into a physical conceit of chronological disaster – with hilarious results. (4½ mins, up to 6 shows per day, 3–12 company members, up to 9 volunteers.)

The Misinformation Tent Lost? Any questions? The Misinformation Tent will supply (wrong) answers to all life’s questions. Come complete with misleading maps, impossible diagrams and ridiculous public service announcements. Staffed by the most helpful but ill-informed local volunteers available. (180 mins, 3 performers, 3 on the road.)

News Desk 23 hour non-stop rolling news. Whatever happens on the street will get reported in depth and discussed at length, as experienced anchormen James Dunkworth and Martin Glover present all the latest developments live. (2 x 45 mins or 3 x 30 mins, 2 performers, 2 on the road.)

Why!!! Walkabout show in which white coated boffins research the answers of life. Witness the live experiment. (11 performers.)

The Dig The DotComedy time team descend on your town centre, uncovering interesting relics from the past, and formulating crackpot theories as to how ancient communities existed. They’re digging a massive hole for themselves-but will they find evidence of prehistoric activity –or just end up to their necks in it. (180 mins, 3 performers, 3 on the road.)

The Peter and Jane Family Full of nostalgic charm, the family look as if they have stepped from between the pages of a Ladybird book, embracing life’s simple pleasures in a larger than life format. This gang of star struck anoraks can spot a celebrity in any crowd – even when there aren’t any! As they roam your function, mistaking everyone for someone famous, they treat everyone as someone special. (2 x 60 mins, 2 x 45 mins or 3 x 30 mins, 4 performers, 4 on the road.)

WRAP-AROUND
Includes outreach workshops in the community which aim to produce exciting and challenging projects.
