ARTISTIC POLICY
Arches Theatre Company stages new work, physical and visual theatre, site-specific work and contemporary classics – in a style that is immediate, raw, provocative and accessible. The present cannon of work includes new plays by James Kelman and Megan Barker, and recent site-specific work has included Dante’s Inferno in basement corridors and dark recesses with a cast of more than a 100 performers.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Pit By Megan Barker. A surreal tale of a woman in the American deep south – a physical tale while cooking a meal for a son on death row. (60 mins, no interval, 3 on stage, 6 on the road, strong language and some sexually explicit content.)

Herbal Remedies A new play by Booker Prize winning author, James Kelman. An existential play in the mould of Beckett and Pinter, and very funny. (75 mins, 3 on stage, 5 on the road, strong language.)

Amada Devised by Cora Bisset from an Isabel Allende short story, an evocative visual story of a prostitute. Music and physical theatre. (65 mins, no interval, 5 on stage, 7 on the road, some strong language.)

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
Long In Ice A new play by Megan Barker to be premiered summer 2008. A tale of disaffected teenagers in a northern Scotland industrial fishing town.

Bailegangaire (the town with no laughter) By Tom Murphy. Three women in the west of Ireland. Moving and beautifully written. (Premieres February 2008.)
