14-16 April 2008 The London Book Fair is the global publishing community's leading spring forum for booksellers, publishers, librarians and book production services worldwide. It gives you a concentrated 3-day trading and educational platform offering access to the world's books, real business contacts and shared knowledge. The Arab World (defined as the 20 countries and 2 states that have Arabic as their registered official language) will be the 5th Market Focus at the 2008 London Book Fair. The 2008 Market Focus programme will aim to strengthen cultural relations with the Arab World, educate the global publishing industry about Arab literature and allow the Arab publishers to promote their books and literature to all parts of the world via the fair. The home page of the London Book Fair website will guide you to everything you need to know about the fair. Below we have highlighted some of the pages that might be of particular interest to you. A three-day cultural programme  celebrating the strength and diversity of Arabic literature will be run by The London Book Fair and the British Council working in partnership as part of the Market Focus 2008. It will consist of a series of talks, discussions, debates and workshops aimed at encouraging collaboration between UK and Arab publishers and translators. Current trends in contemporary Arabic literature will be introduced to a UK audience through a showcase of some of the best writers and writing from the Arab world. Why not attend the seminars yourself? The UK publishers who attend will certainly be interested in meeting you. Whether you are an experienced visitor to the London Book Fair or this is your first visit, the Top Tips on getting the most out of the fair will be of use to you. Search here to find exhibitors by name or country and then click on the floor plan to see where their stand is. British Council staff, several speaking Arabic as well as English, will be at the London Book Fair to help you with your questions about the fair and other activities. If you have a question or a problem please go to the International Welcome Point for help. |
