Fyfe Dangerfield, the frontman of indie rock band Guillemots, will travel to Vietnam to perform as well as record with local musicians playing traditional Vietnamese instruments.
Based in the UK, Guillemots first galloped into people's ears in 2005 with joyful, colour-drenched singles such as Made-up Lovesong #43 and Trains to Brazil. Guillemots also performed at the British Council's 75th Anniversary Concert at the Barbcain in a unique Guillemots vs. Penguins collaboration with Arthur Jeffes’ Penguin Cafe.
In 2010, the band's founding member, Fyfe released his own debut solo album, Fly Yellow Moon. He has written a number of pieces for both cellist Natalie Clein and the choir Ex Cathedra. His first soundtrack was released in 2011, for a theatre production of the fairytale Howl’s Moving Castle. As an instrumentalist, Fyfe plays keyboards with tea-dance-gone-wrong free jazz improvisers Gannets, whose album Transmissions of Not - a recording of a BBC Radio 3 session - was released in 2012, and is a part-time guitarist for roll-n-roll tradesmen The Courtesy Group.
Fyfe will be performing in two cities in Vietnam:
- 26 MayPerformance at Ho Chi Minh Conservatoire
- 28 May performance at Hanoi Youth Theaters
