Ensemble Q was formed in 1995 and is a flexible group centred on the wind quintet formation. Its vibrant performances and continually growing commissioning ventures place it at the forefront of new music in Britain today.
2003 marked new commissions from the Manchester based composer Ian Vine and Tansy Davies. The ensemble has also recently received support from The Performing Rights Society, The Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust and The British Council.
Ensemble Q is committed to leading inspirational workshops in schools, universities, music colleges and the wider community, but especially enjoys working with young composers exploring new possibilities for this flexible ensemble. In 2002 it made tours of Scotland and Taiwan plus a variety of other UK recitals.
