John Thieme

Selected and introduced by John Thieme, this bibliography provides listings of twentieth-century Commonwealth and post-colonial writing in English or available in English translation that is currently in print.

It is divided into national or regional sections, with the regional sections subdivided by country. Each section has an introduction. The section on Post-Colonial Britain has entries confined to writers who represent the country's current post-colonial situation. The bibliography also includes a General section which lists works that deal with two or more Commonwealth literatures or engage with aspects of post-colonial theory.

Each title entry gives full bibliographic details, the date of first publication and an indication of the genre. Author's dates have been included wherever possible.

It is now out of print but all the titles are included on our enCompassCulture web site on the World compass.
